My aim is to provoke contemplative thoughts on prominent subjects relating to the human condition. By juxtaposing carefully selected materials in symbolic and metaphorical ways viewers will have to mentally engage with each work to discover the socio-political implications and tongue-in-cheek commentary as well as exploring the many questions posed through ensuing dialogue. Inspirations are drawn from the Dada and Surrealist movements as well as the many and varied art styles which have engaged with our many and varied Australian landscapes. Years ago I was inspired by Australian artist Paul Quinn to give consideration to the materials used and their implications; this resinated in my mind and plays a great part in how my works take shape. |
