ARTIST BIO

Born and brought up in Russia, I always had a strong interest in the visual arts.  Endless hours of fascination in famous Russian art galleries, the magic spirit of rich cultural traditions of ancient towns had a strong influence on my growth as an artist.

During my school years I attended numerous art lessons doing drawings, including portraiture, landscape and still life. During my University years, I continued practicing as an artist exploring the medium of pastels and linear works using pencils, and my drawings and illustrations were selected for the University’s Newspaper providing illustrations and cartoons relating to social themes.

After moving to Australia in 2001, I fell in love with Abstract Art and started working predominately with acrylic paints and mixed media. I completed a course in Abstract Painting (2007) and a course in Watercolours (2010). I also did a course in Working with Resin in 2014 and a course in Interior Design in 2015.

I like bright colors and visual presentation of movement and change. I try to express a sense of energy, light and liveliness with each stroke of my brush while using multimedia and different textures to add a sense of depth and multiple dimensions to my paintings.  I have discovered resin as a powerful media in 2014, and later - pouring acrylic art; both mediums fit  perfectly with my expressive painting style and adds fluidity to my colourful and dynamic creations. Most recently I fell in love with Acrylic Inks for its intensity of colours and versatility of use. My new passion is collages that bring playfulness and endless possibilities to my art. I also enjoy working with encaustic wax and gold leaf - so much fun, amazing effects and interesting textures. I love mixed media - it allows me to explore and combine different mediums and materials, and there are no bounds to the imagination.
