Carole Lees In 2002, twelve months after retiring from a hectic corporate position, a small advertisement in a local newspaper caught my attention, "Learn to draw and paint, small friendly group, no experience necessary", I never imagined this would be the start of an all-consuming passion. A late starter in the field of art, I have always felt that art and the soul are certainly connected. With this in mind, I try to portray a calmness and stillness in my artwork that is beyond the visual.
Although I have no formal training in art, I have attended classes in watercolour, pastel and oils. I've attended workshops with some of Australia's most accomplished artists and will willingly listen to any artist who shares their knowledge and stories of their craft. I was a member of Waverley Arts Society until they closed in 2015, a wonderful group of very giving and supportive artists since 2004. I held the position of Treasurer for three years from 2005. I am also a member of Agra, (Australian Guild of Realist Artists) since February 2010, Victorian Artists, and the Whitehorse Art Society.
I could not imagine my life now without art.
